Djalma Santos Osvaldo Ardiles

Osvaldo Cesar Ardiles was born on August 3, 1952 in Argentina's Cordoba province. Of medium height and slender physique, the presence of Ardiles in midfield in international football was more like that of a typical strategist at the midfielder. He was a skilled and accurate small field for long distance passes. Ardiles

footballing grew after arriving to the first team Hurricane in the mid 70's. Its passage by Hurricane was important for training and became the mainstay of the institution's capital city that won two consecutive second places, the 1975 and 1976.

When coach Cesar Luis Menotti, who had directed the whole huracanense before being named coach of the Argentina team, he rolled his eyes. However, many journalists and much of the fans, not considered able to occupy the post of representative of owner albiceleste in order to FIFA World Cup 1978. Of course, all wrong unless Menotti himself as Ardiles was, along with Mario Kempes, head of moves strung together scoring from the midfield forward.

In selecting gaucho was gradually taking over the Argentine midfield, alternating his natural ability with a precise set of distribution was the delight of thousands of Argentine throats. Was crowned world champion in 1978 and represented the total selected World Cup River Plate in 11 games, six in 1978 and five in 1982.

As a transfer was considered unusual for the time, Ardiles moved to England to play for Tottenham Hotspur, making figure and idol of the fans who fondly it ended nicknaming Ossie , short for Oswald (Osvaldo). With Tottenham Hotspurs achieved UEFA Cup in 1984. Also joined the Paris Saint Germain of France and the Blackburn Rovers, Queen's Park Rangers and Swindon Town, all of England.

In the war of 1982 between Argentina and Great Britain over the Falkland Islands, won the respect of most English people, despite making public their support for England itself to the Argentine people. Due

few subjects to graduate as a lawyer, Ardiles learned to focus his life beyond football and remains a wanderer with technical title under the arm, hopefully elusive in that profession, and sports commentator for UK companies and Hispanic.

But one way or another has been in the football world as it really was: a remarkable strategist accepted and praised by all the international football field.
